Steps for Creating a Service

To create a service, follow these steps:

1. Sign in to your Flumotion Smart Multi CDN account.
2. Under the Services tab, choose ADD SERVICE.
3. Follow the instructions in the Add New Service wizard:

• Define domains and origin: Enter at least one domain and an origin. You can also define additional aliases in this step.
• Select certificate: Select one of the following options:
  • Create a fully-managed certificate. You will need to prove that you own the domain using a DNS challenge.
  • Upload an existing certificate.
  • Use a certificate that you created previously, provided that it matches the domains of the service.
• Select template: The selected template determines the behaviors and security settings of the service.
• Configure security: If the selected template is SaaS or Web Application, you can configure the WAF engine to protect the service.
• Select CDN: Select which CDNs will be used to provide access to the service.
  • You may have several options, depending on the CDN providers available in your Flumotion Smart Multi CDN account.
  • You can define a new CDN provider directly from this step.
  • It is recommended to use two or more providers, unless you select VCDN, which automatically includes multiple providers.
• Set traffic steering: Depending on the CDN providers selected, you can:
  • Configure service monitoring for availability and performance.
  • Select a steering policy: Performance-based, weights-based (statically assigned weights), or cost-based.

4. Click CREATE SERVICE.

5. The new service should appear, and you will see the Deployment Progress page.

• The page shows the different steps Flumotion Smart Multi CDN performs to deploy your service.
• Depending on the CDN providers you selected, this process can take from a few minutes up to an hour.
• If you selected a fully-managed certificate, you will need to prove that you own the domain using a DNS challenge by following the instructions in the first step.
• The page automatically advances from one step to the next. You don’t need to perform any additional actions, except proving domain ownership when required.

The wizard is designed to cover the vast majority of scenarios, but you can fully customize the service:

• Create your own CDN providers beforehand on the CDN Providers page. See Adding a CDN Account.
• Create or upload your own customized certificate beforehand on the Certificates page. See Creating a Certificate.
• Customize the service behavior to control caching, header manipulation, etc. on the Behaviors page. See Creating a Behavior.
• Customize the origins on the Origins page. See Adding an Origin.
• Customize the domains and domain mappings on the Domains page. See Adding a Domain.
• Customize the CDN providers associated with the service on the CDN Provider page, or change the steering policy on the Traffic Policy page. See Configuring the Default Traffic Policy.
• Configure security rules, bot management, and other security features.
