# Domains Overview

A **Domain** is the hostname that end users use to access your content.

For example, if your website is available at `https://www.example.com`, the domain name is `www.example.com`.

When you create a service, you are required to provide a Domain. After the service has been created, you can add additional Domains as needed.

When defining a Domain, make sure that the domain name has a matching certificate that has already been created. For more information about certificates, see the [Managing Certificates](https://www.flumotion.com/docs/multiCDN/managing-certificates/) page.

If your service has multiple Origins, you also need to define a **Domain Mapping** when adding a Domain. The Domain Mapping determines how traffic from the Domain is routed to the appropriate Origin.

#### Prerequisites

Before you start working with Domains, make sure you have the following:

- **Flumotion Smart Multi CDN Service** – You can follow [these steps](https://www.flumotion.com/docs/multiCDN/steps-for-creating-a-service/) to create a service.
