The winners of Streaming Media European Readers Choice Awards were announced last night at a special Reception at the Streaming Media Europe conference and Expo in London. We are excited to have been awarded in the category of Best WebCast Platform. This is our 6th Streaming Media Award/recognition in only 2 years and it reinforces our strong commitment to live streaming and online video and radio publishing.

Over 14,300 votes were cast in just six weeks this autumn when voting opened, and Streaming Media Editor, Eric Schumacher-Rasmussen, commented, ”This year’s winners reflect the best of online video in 2011. Flumotion streams prestigious literature prize gala live to a global audience

The annual prize is the biggest recognition in Spanish literature and takes place on October 15 in the Palau de Congresos in Barcelona. The Prince and Princess of Asturias and Girona are presiding the formal dinner.

OVC11 Round-up from Flumotion’s Thomas Vander Stichele

Fresh from the Open Video Conference, we caught up with our Co-founder and CTO  for a brief video summary of the conference this year. OVC was different this year with less focus on keynotes and more hands on hacking sessions with a limited number of invitees. Thomas was invited for the third consecutive year to represent Flumotion and help stream the event live online in open formats using WebM and Ogg, together with support for mobile devices such as iPhone, iPad and Windows Phone 7.

Thomas touches on some of the demos, announcements and key notes at the conference, referring the likes of Google who showcased their adaptive bandwidth for WebM and Mozilla with Popcorn.js, a HTML5 video framework that lets you remix existing videos into a completely new video inside the browser using Javascript.
