Online radio has been given yet another boost with yesterday’s launch of ‘UK Radioplayer’. The player is a collaboration of many of the UK’s biggest radio stations which have joined together to provide a system for listening to their stations over the net. Michael Hill, creator and managing director, stated that “Radioplayer turns your computer into a radio”.
Radioplayer is estimated to draw in three million listeners within the first week of its launch, representing the majority of UK online listening. Listeners are able to personalize Radioplayer by saving their favorite radio stations, and each radio station can customize the player with their own branding and advertising. The BBC radio stations will also feature social sharing tools, allowing listeners to share their favorite audio content on social network sites such as Facebook and Twitter. Continue Reading…
