The world’s biggest beauty brand, L’Oréal Paris is reaching out to their online following in Spain by launching a Facebook page and celebrating with the live coverage of catwalk shows direct from Cibeles Madrid Fashion Week. The shows will take place between 17 and 22 September and will be streamed live by Flumotion through L’Oréal’s new Facebook page.
“The aim of L’Oréal Paris is to communicate with all those who come to this new online presence. Video will be an important element in this dialogue and will make it more interactive and lively”, said America Vallejo, director of interactive marketing for L’Oréal Paris in Spain. Their new Facebook page will also offer followers promotions, competitions and cosmetic tips.
2010 will go down in history as the year in which notable designers, fashion houses and brands like L’Oréal Paris exploit the potential of online video. Live broadcasting on the internet brings fans closer to the runway with fashion brands such as Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs and Tommy Hilfiger all live streaming their shows this year.
“To offer streaming broadcasts within social networks such as Facebook allows brands to create a direct relationship with each user. Therefore, this relationship successfully creates thriving communities around the brand” said Jean-Noël Saunier, co-founder and CEO of Flumotion.
In addition to the live streaming of shows, L’Oréal Paris is offering viewers live commentary by notorious bloggers from the world of fashion. There will also be a photo gallery, backstage footage and the Cibelespacio photocall. “L’Oréal Paris has made several significant advances in joining the online medium and its presence in the Spanish fashion scene” , said Vallejo.
