GUADEC 2010 Now Available On Demand

First Demo: Live HTTP Streaming of DVB in WebM & VP8 by Flumotion

We have updated our GUADEC 2010 page where you can now download the conference on demand. On the page you will find direct links to .webm video files that are ordered according to room and time – a supported media player such as VLC is needed in order to view the video files.

The GUADEC conference live streaming powered by Flumotion was officially the first event worldwide streamed live using the new open WebM format. Within 48 hours of the WebM release the development team at Flumotion integrated the new WebM format into its multi-format streaming technology and created the first live WebM streaming worldwide.

Similar experience to Pascal — I downloaded two of the videos; neither were longer than 20 minutes / bigger than 170Mb. One of them included 10 mins or so of one talk (no idea which one because the filenames don’t give me any clues), the other comprised entirely of people wandering about on the stage doing nothing. nnDid you test this stuff? Why isn’t there just one video per talk, clearly labelled, so we don’t have to cross-reference with the agenda to figure out which video might contain which talk (when it’s working properly)?nnAlso, the video page looks terrible in Safari, btw.nnI hate to complain because I know how much effort is involved, but availability of videos after the event seems to be the most unprofessional part of GUADEC every year. I can’t remember any year where we’ve ended up with every video available, properly named, in a timely fashion…

Hey numpty,nnThanks for pointing out the CSS problems with the GUADEC page, it has been updated and should be working fine now.nnAs for the video files, we have added hourly recordings (see above) so now it should be easier for you to watch the talks you want without downloading larger files.
