Recently Flumotion streamed MANGO’s new Fall/Winter collection to a global audience via Facebook. The recent phenomenon of streaming Fashion Shows is a development that the Flumotion blog has been actively following since the beginning of the year.
Catwalk shows are now no longer only celebrity events. Brands and designers are beginning to recognise the potential of streaming technology in bringing these normally exclusive shows to anybody with an internet connection.
MANGO is an international clothing company based in Barcelona with over 1,200 stores across 91 different countries. The MANGO concept is based on an alliance between a quality product, with an original design and a coherent and unified brand image. The challenge was to essentially to broadcast their Fall/Winter collection online, with rapid integration of video streaming into their Facebook page using the Flumotion Player. A high caliber of streaming was essential to the success of this event, to ensure viewers were able to enjoy the fashion show live online without compromising on picture or sound quality.
With Flumotion, MANGO were able to offer live streaming of their fashion show and seemless integration with Facebook in only a few days, normally such an integration would require at least 10 days and working with multiple suppliers. Flumotion’s Advanced Streaming Features such as Adaptive Bitrate, ensured an optimised user experience inline with viewers connection speeds. Using Facebook to embed the live stream enpowered an already active community to participate and widely generate buzz before, during and after the live event.
“Flumotion is the ideal partner for the transmission of live events – our technology facilitates quick and easy integration between brands and their audience.” Says Flumotion CEO, Jean-Noël Saunier.
Using multi-format technology was important for the event to successfully achieve maximum audience reach, no matter what device or format used by the end user. Flumotion are able to deliver a multi-format strategy via their advanced Streaming Platform, ensuring MANGO’s almost half a million followers on Facebook had the option to tune into the live stream.
