World’s first live HD video of Earth from space

Space Shuttle Atlantis

Not only did Space Shuttle Atlantis blast off to the International Space Station (ISS) for her STS-135 mission last week, but it was also confirmed that video streaming technology will be installed on the International Space Station.

The high definition streaming video camera, which will be designed, built and tested in the UK, is a joint venture between Canada, Russia and the UK and has been described as a mixture of Google Earth and YouTube. Continue Reading…

UK Radioplayer Draws in 5.7 Million Listeners

Flumotion helped create the online UK Radioplayer

In March this year, we were introduced to the new ‘UK Radioplayer’, a collaboration of the UK’s largest radio stations which joined together to provide a system for listening to their stations over the net. It was yesterday reported that the Radioplayer drew in 5.7 million unique users during the month of May, a “really encouraging first set of figures” according to Andrew Harrison, chairman of Radioplayer.

The player, which was initially hailed as “a quiet breakthrough”, has 238 participating stations from across the country, an increase of 81 stations since it launched. It has recently introduced a player building tool which will help smaller stations get on board. Continue Reading…
